Throughout their lifetime, many women experience problems with their bladder, bowel or pelvic floor. Unfortunately, many women don’t seek treatment or help for these conditions, either because it’s an uncomfortable issue, or because they don’t know that effective treatments are available.
Who’s at risk?
Women who are pregnant, post-natal, menopausal, elite athletes or those who have had gynaecological surgery are identified as being most at risk, however women can experience problems with their bladder, bowel or pelvic floor at any age.
Signs and Symptoms
- Leaking urine when you exercise, laugh, cough or sneeze
- Urgency and constantly needing to go to the toilet
- Needing to get up through the night more than once

Fortunately, correct physiotherapy treatment, which aims to train and strengthen the pelvic muscle floor, has proven to be effective in managing these problems. Marita Davis, our Physiotherapist working in Women’s Health and Continence, has extensive experience and expertise in treating these issues, and will cater treatment to meet your individual needs.
